About the Company

Our client is a highly regarded player in the commercial construction industry, known for delivering high-quality projects and cultivating a supportive, progressive workplace culture. They are now seeking an experienced and confident HR Advisor to join their team in a key generalist role.

This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established business that values its people and is actively investing in their development and wellbeing. You’ll be working closely with senior leadership and be the go-to person for all things HR, playing a vital role in shaping a modern, compliant, and high-performing workforce.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Assistant and working closely with both the Managing Director and broader support team, the HR Advisor will be the primary representative of the People & Culture department. This is a generalist role offering a diverse and rewarding workload across the full employee lifecycle. From recruitment to employee relations, performance management, WHS, and cultural initiatives, you'll be a trusted partner in maintaining a modern, compliant, and engaged workplace.

This position is ideal for a proactive, confident HR professional with hands-on experience in a blue-collar environment, ideally within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Advise managers and employees on HR policies, awards, and legislation.

  • Support conflict resolution, grievance handling, and disciplinary matters.

  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work Act, WHS legislation, and internal policies.

Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment, from job design to onboarding.

  • Facilitate induction processes and ensure smooth integration for new starters.

Performance & Development
  • Assist with performance reviews and development planning.

  • Identify and coordinate learning and development opportunities.

  • Support the implementation of staff development initiatives.

Policy & Procedures
  • Develop, review, and implement HR policies and documentation.

  • Ensure templates and procedures are compliant and up to date.

Workplace Health & Safety
  • Act as Return to Work Coordinator.

  • Collaborate with the HSEQ Manager on WHS programs and incident investigations.

  • Promote a culture of safety across all operations.

HR Systems & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate employee records using Employment Hero.

  • Drive engagement with HR systems and support continuous improvement.

  • Review payroll data for accuracy and compliance prior to submission.

Internal Communications & Culture
  • Assist in developing internal communications to foster alignment and engagement.

  • Collaborate with the Front of House Coordinator to organise cultural initiatives and events.

Leadership Support
  • Use discretion and judgement to escalate issues and trends to the Managing Director and Executive Assistant, providing key insights to inform decision-making.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a generalist HR or recruitment role.

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field (e.g. Bachelor of Business HR, Certificate IV or Diploma).

  • Sound understanding of the Fair Work Act and employment law.

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in the construction industry highly regarded.

  • Proficiency in Employment Hero (or similar HRIS) desirable.

  • A collaborative team player who can work autonomously and take initiative.
