With a collaborative and innovative culture, the Melbourne team continues to grow and is now seeking a Payroll Officer to take ownership of the payroll function for the Australian business.
About the Role:This role will see you managing the end-to-end payroll process while working closely with HR, Finance and an outsourced payroll provider to ensure payroll is delivered accurately, on time and in line with Australian legislation.
Alongside the day-to-day payroll cycle, you will also play a key role in upcoming projects, including the i mplementation of Pay Day Super requirements and the rollout of a new payroll system, offering the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and system enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the end-to-end payroll process ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation , including taxation, superannuation and record-keeping requirements
- Work closely with the outsourced payroll provider to coordinate pay runs and resolve payroll queries
- Conduct payroll checks and reconciliations prior to each pay cycle
- Support the rollout of Pay Day Super requirements
- Partner with Finance on payroll tax reporting and compliance obligations
- Monitor and reconcile leave balances and long service leave accruals
- Provide payroll data to support workers’ compensation renewals and FBT reporting
- Assist with HR administration including employment contracts, onboarding documentation, salary updates and employee lifecycle changes
- 3+ years’ experience managing end-to-end payroll in Australia
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation , including STP, superannuation and payroll tax
- Experience managing reconciliations, reporting and year-end payroll processes
- Confidence working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
- Strong Excel and data accuracy skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- A proactive approach to process improvement
